About the role

Orbit Labs is revamping the performance and reliability of its flagship customer‑facing portal, codenamed "Orbit Pulse." We need a Frontend React Developer to lead the UI optimisation and ensure seamless experiences under heavy traffic.

Key responsibilities

• Audit and refactor the existing React codebase to reduce bundle size by at least 30% using dynamic imports and code‑splitting.
• Implement performance monitoring with Web Vitals and Lighthouse, setting up automated CI checks.
• Migrate critical UI components to TypeScript, adding strict typing and unit tests with Jest.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate a new caching layer via GraphQL edge‑caching.
• Optimize CSS delivery using CSS‑in‑JS solutions and critical‑path rendering techniques.
• Deliver a performance‑focused UI component library for future feature rollouts.

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with React (hooks, context, and concurrent mode).
• Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript, including ES6+ features.
• Deep understanding of web performance metrics and optimisation strategies.
• Hands‑on with modern build tools (Webpack, Vite) and CI pipelines.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable HTML/CSS adhering to accessibility standards.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Next.js or Remix for server‑side rendering.
• Experience with performance testing tools such as WebPageTest or GTmetrix.
