About the role

We are modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay online 24/7. The PHP Developer will help refactor core services, introduce automated testing, and ensure zero‑downtime deployments while working part‑time with a distributed team.

Key responsibilities

• Rewrite critical PHP modules using Laravel best practices
• Design database schema updates and migration scripts for MySQL
• Implement feature flags and blue‑green deployment strategies
• Write unit and integration tests to guarantee stability
• Collaborate with DevOps to configure CI pipelines for zero‑downtime releases

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with PHP 7+ and Laravel framework
• Proficient in MySQL schema design and query optimization
• Understanding of zero‑downtime deployment patterns
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote setting

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker or container orchestration
• Experience with automated testing tools (PHPUnit, Pest)
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, GCP) for scaling legacy apps
