About the role

Vertex Analytics is revamping the performance and reliability of its customer‑facing services. We need a PostgreSQL Administrator to lead a focused overhaul, ensuring low latency, high availability, and robust monitoring across our data layer.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze current query patterns and identify bottlenecks.
• Design and implement index strategies and partitioning schemes.
• Configure replication, failover, and backup solutions for 99.9% uptime.
• Set up automated performance monitoring and alerting.
• Collaborate with application engineers to tune ORM settings and connection pools.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production.
• Deep understanding of query planning, indexing, and vacuum processes.
• Experience with streaming replication, logical replication, and point‑in‑time recovery.
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash/Python) for automation.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MongoDB or MySQL for cross‑database migrations.
• Knowledge of containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud‑hosted PostgreSQL services (AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL).
