Senior PostgreSQL Administrator Needed for Database Migration Upgrade

About the role

AlphaEdge Tech is undertaking a performance and reliability overhaul of its customer‑facing services. We need a PostgreSQL Administrator to design, tune, and secure the core data layer that powers high‑traffic web applications.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze current PostgreSQL clusters and identify bottlenecks
• Implement indexing, partitioning, and query‑optimisation strategies
• Set up automated backups, point‑in‑time recovery, and high‑availability replication
• Monitor latency, throughput, and error rates with alerting pipelines
• Collaborate with dev teams to refactor queries and improve ORM usage
• Document configuration standards and runbooks for future maintenance

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production environments
• Deep knowledge of performance tuning, replication, and failover
• Proficiency with Linux shell scripting and automation tools
• Experience integrating PostgreSQL with MongoDB or MySQL ecosystems

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud‑native PostgreSQL services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL)
• Exposure to container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
