Our customer base of 150,000+ spans across the US, Canada, and UK. Email marketing is our primary revenue driver, generating 35% of our total sales, and we're looking to scale this channel significantly. We need an experienced Email Marketing Specialist who can take our campaigns to the next level and drive substantial revenue growth.
Position Overview:
We're seeking a results-driven Email Marketing Specialist for a long-term engagement (6+ months) to own and optimize our entire email marketing strategy. You'll be responsible for creating high-converting email campaigns, building automated flows, and maximizing customer lifetime value through strategic email marketing. This role requires someone who understands e-commerce metrics deeply and can balance creativity with data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
• Campaign Management (30%): Plan, create, and execute promotional email campaigns including product launches, seasonal sales, and special offers; manage email calendar and ensure consistent communication cadence
• Automation & Flows (25%): Build and optimize automated email sequences including welcome series, abandoned cart recovery, post-purchase flows, win-back campaigns, and customer re-engagement programs
• List Management & Segmentation (20%): Develop advanced segmentation strategies based on customer behavior, purchase history, and engagement levels; maintain list hygiene and ensure deliverability
• Copywriting & Design (15%): Write compelling subject lines and email copy that drives opens and clicks; coordinate with designers or use templates to create visually appealing emails
• Testing & Optimization (10%): Conduct A/B tests on subject lines, content, send times, and calls-to-action; analyze performance metrics and implement improvements
Must-Have Requirements:
• 3-5 years of hands-on email marketing experience, preferably in e-commerce environment
• Proven track record of driving revenue through email marketing with measurable results
• Expert knowledge of email service platforms (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend, or similar)
• Strong understanding of e-commerce metrics: open rates, click rates, conversion rates, revenue per email
• Experience with email automation and customer journey mapping
• Excellent copywriting skills with ability to write persuasive, conversion-focused content
• Understanding of email deliverability best practices and CAN-SPAM compliance
• Analytics-minded with ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations
• Experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization
• Knowledge of segmentation strategies and customer lifecycle marketing
Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with Klaviyo specifically (our current platform)
• Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for email template customization
• Familiarity with Shopify or other e-commerce platforms
• Experience with SMS marketing integration
• Understanding of email design principles and responsive design
• Knowledge of marketing automation and CRM integration
• Experience with customer retention strategies and loyalty programs
• Copywriting portfolio demonstrating high-converting email examples
Project Details:
• Contract Duration: 6+ months with strong potential for extension
• Weekly Commitment: 25-30 hours per week
• Initial Focus: Audit current email program, optimize abandoned cart flow (currently converting at 8%), develop new segmentation strategy, and create Q1 campaign calendar
• Key Metrics: Revenue generated, email list growth, engagement rates, automation performance
• Collaboration: Work closely with marketing manager, content team, and e-commerce operations
• Tools: Klaviyo (ESP), Shopify, Google Analytics, Canva for design assets
• Meeting Cadence: Weekly strategy sessions, bi-weekly performance reviews
