Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts
  • Perform data entry tasks, including entering financial transactions into our accounting software
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported
  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Manage budgets and perform variance analysis to identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with our accounting team to prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Develop and implement effective financial procedures and controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records
  • Provide administrative support to our accounting team, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and performing other tasks as required
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion and professionalism
  • Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as required, including filing, photocopying, and scanning documents
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with our clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve our financial processes and procedures
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and expertise

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably in a business consulting or professional services environment
  • Proficiency in accounting software, including QuickBooks or similar programs
  • Excellent data entry skills, with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with our accounting team and other stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion and professionalism
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new accounting software and systems
  • Professional certification, such as a Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB) designation, is an asset
