Backend Developer Needed for Service Layer Rewrite

About the role

Orbit Labs is building a high‑throughput data ingestion platform called "Nebula Sync". We need a Backend Developer to lead a focused CI/CD and platform automation sprint that will cut release cycles in half and improve reliability for our micro‑services stack.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement GitLab CI pipelines for automated testing, container image builds, and blue‑green deployments of Nebula Sync services.
• Script Terraform modules to provision Kubernetes namespaces, ingress rules, and secret management across staging and production.
• Refactor existing Node.js services to use Docker multi‑stage builds and integrate Helm charts for versioned releases.
• Set up SonarQube quality gates and automated security scans using Trivy within the CI flow.
• Collaborate with the QA team to embed contract testing (Pact) into the release pipeline and achieve zero‑downtime rollouts.
• Document pipeline architecture, runbooks, and handover procedures for the operations team.

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with NodeJS and JavaScript backend development.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL schema design and query optimization.
• Hands‑on expertise in CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Solid understanding of Terraform or similar IaC frameworks.
• Familiarity with REST API design and implementation.

Nice to have

• Experience with monitoring stacks like Prometheus/Grafana.
• Knowledge of security scanning tools such as Trivy or Snyk.
