About the Role

Our team is currently seeking a highly skilled Document Formatter to join our editorial department. The Document Formatter will be working closely with our editorial, design, and production teams to ensure that all documents are formatted to the highest standards. This will involve collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement style guides, templates, and workflows, as well as providing training and support to other team members as needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Format a wide range of documents, including manuscripts, textbooks, and marketing materials, using software such as Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, and LaTeX.
- Develop and implement style guides, templates, and workflows to ensure consistency and quality in all documents.
- Collaborate with editorial, design, and production teams to ensure that all documents meet the highest standards of quality and consistency.
- Provide training and support to other team members on document formatting and preparation.
- Work closely with designers to develop and implement visual styles and layouts for documents.
- Ensure that all documents are accessible and meet the needs of diverse audiences.
- Meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure to deliver high-quality documents on time.
- Contribute to the development of new documents and materials, and suggest improvements to existing processes and workflows.
- Participate in quality control and assurance activities to ensure that all documents meet the highest standards of quality and consistency.
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies and software, and make recommendations for improvements to our document preparation and formatting processes.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to ensure that all documents meet the required standards and specifications.
- Develop and maintain documentation and records of formatting and preparation processes.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients, and respond to queries and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our document preparation and formatting processes, and suggest new ideas and initiatives for improving quality and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as publishing, communications, or design.
- At least 2 years of experience in document preparation and formatting, preferably in a publishing or related environment.
- Excellent technical skills, including proficiency in software such as Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, and LaTeX.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team and collaborate with colleagues.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
