About the role

NexGen Media is building a real‑time analytics backbone for its operations teams. As a Python Backend Developer you will shape the PulseStream Engine, a data pipeline that aggregates, transforms, and surfaces operational metrics. Your work will enable faster decision‑making across marketing, content, and ad‑ops.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement ETL jobs in Python using Apache Airflow to ingest logs from Kafka streams.
• Develop RESTful services that expose aggregated metrics to internal dashboards.
• Containerize all components with Docker and orchestrate them via Docker‑Compose for staging.
• Optimize PostgreSQL schemas and write performant SQL for time‑series analytics.
• Set up monitoring and alerting in Grafana for pipeline health and latency.
• Collaborate with data scientists to embed model predictions into the analytics flow.

Must-have skills

• Strong Python (3.8+) experience, especially with async frameworks.
• Proficient in PostgreSQL design, indexing, and query tuning.
• Building and consuming REST APIs using FastAPI or Flask.
• Docker containerization and basic CI/CD pipeline knowledge.
• Familiarity with Airflow or similar workflow orchestrators.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka or other message brokers.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Looker or Tableau.
