About the role

Cascade Apps is modernizing its legacy production platform, codenamed "Nebula Engine", to achieve zero‑downtime deployments. As a Backend Developer you will redesign core services, introduce container orchestration, and ensure seamless traffic migration while keeping the live system fully operational.

Key responsibilities

• Refactor monolithic NodeJS services into micro‑services using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement blue‑green deployment pipelines in GitLab CI to guarantee zero‑downtime releases.
• Migrate existing PostgreSQL schemas to a sharded architecture and write migration scripts.
• Design and expose new REST endpoints for the billing sync module, adhering to OpenAPI standards.
• Set up automated health checks, logging with ELK stack, and alerting via Prometheus.
• Collaborate with the QA team to create integration test suites that run in the staging environment before production cut‑over.

Must-have skills

• Strong NodeJS and JavaScript experience (ES6+).
• Proficient with PostgreSQL schema design and query optimization.
• Hands‑on with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building and documenting REST APIs.
• Familiarity with zero‑downtime deployment strategies.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of TypeScript and GraphQL.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS/GCP) networking.
