About the role

Northbay Systems is modernizing its mobile launch pipeline by building a robust test automation framework for its upcoming flagship app, Aurora Suite. As an Android Developer you will lead the automation uplift, creating reliable regression suites that cut release risk and accelerate time‑to‑market.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement UI test scripts using Espresso and UI Automator targeting critical user flows.
• Integrate test pipelines into GitHub Actions, ensuring nightly builds run full regression suites.
• Collaborate with QA leads to define flaky‑test mitigation strategies and reporting dashboards.
• Refactor legacy instrumented tests to Kotlin, improving readability and maintainability.
• Document test architecture, naming conventions, and onboarding guides for future contributors.
• Validate API contracts by writing end‑to‑end tests that combine Retrofit calls with mock server responses.

Must-have skills

• Strong Android development experience with Kotlin and Java.
• Proficiency in Espresso, UI Automator, and AndroidX Test libraries.
• Hands‑on knowledge of CI/CD tools, preferably GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and JSON parsing on Android.
• Ability to write clean, modular code and unit tests with JUnit.

Nice to have

• Experience with Firebase Test Lab or similar cloud testing platforms.
• Familiarity with performance profiling tools like Android Profiler.
