About the role

Cascade Apps is modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay online 24/7. We need a MongoDB Specialist to design and implement zero‑downtime migration strategies while improving data performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze existing MongoDB schemas and identify bottlenecks
• Design sharding, indexing, and replication plans for seamless migration
• Write migration scripts and automation to move data without service interruption
• Collaborate with backend engineers to refactor queries for optimal performance
• Monitor and tune the new cluster during and after rollout

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing production MongoDB clusters
• Deep knowledge of sharding, replica sets, and backup/restore processes
• Experience with zero‑downtime migration techniques
• Proficiency in JavaScript and NodeJS for scripting
• Strong problem‑solving and communication abilities

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Atlas or other managed MongoDB services
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for database changes
• Knowledge of performance monitoring tools like MongoDB Cloud Manager
