Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain database architectures to support our applications and services
• Develop and execute database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
• Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving issues promptly
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration of databases with applications
• Provide expert guidance on database-related matters, including database design, performance optimization, and troubleshooting
• Develop and maintain database documentation, including schema diagrams, data models, and technical guides
• Implement and enforce database security measures, including access controls, authentication, and encryption
• Participate in the development of database strategies and architectures, aligning with company goals and objectives
• Conduct regular database audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Develop and execute database migration plans to ensure smooth transitions between different database versions or platforms
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in database administration, applying this knowledge to improve our database systems and services
• Provide training and support to junior team members, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance team capabilities

Requirements

• Strong experience in PostgreSQL database administration, including database design, performance optimization, and troubleshooting
• Excellent knowledge of database security, including access controls, authentication, and encryption
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/PGSQL, with experience in writing complex queries and optimizing database performance
• Experience with database backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery and incremental backups
• Strong understanding of database replication and clustering, including master-slave replication and load balancing
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience working with agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu and CentOS
• Experience with cloud-based database services, including Amazon RDS and Google Cloud SQL
