We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented PHP Developer to architect, develop, and optimize the backend of a large-scale, production-ready web application. This role requires deep expertise in PHP (OOP concepts, design patterns, secure coding), MySQL database optimization, REST API development, and scalable backend architecture. You must be capable of transforming business requirements into clean, maintainable, and efficient backend logic that performs flawlessly under high user load.
Your responsibilities will include developing new backend modules from scratch, improving existing features, designing API endpoints, integrating external third-party APIs, implementing authentication and authorization layers (JWT, OAuth, API tokens), handling session and state management, and writing secure server-side logic. You will also build user roles and permissions, implement server-side validation, maintain database normalization, and write optimized SQL queries with joins, indexes, and stored procedures where needed.
You will be responsible for managing backend architecture, including caching strategies (Redis/OPcache), background job processing (cron jobs, queue workers), error-handling flows, logging systems, file uploads, email/SMS sending modules, and generating dynamic PDFs or reports. Knowledge of MVC concepts, routing systems, SOLID principles, and reusable service classes will be required to ensure long-term maintainability.
The role also includes extensive debugging, troubleshooting production issues, resolving server errors, optimizing page loading times, profiling slow queries, and improving application performance across all backend layers. You must take responsibility for application security by preventing vulnerabilities such as SQL Injection, XSS, CSRF, SSRF, insecure file uploads, broken authentication, and flawed access control.
You will collaborate with frontend developers (React/Vue/HTML) to ensure consistent data flow, provide well-structured API documentation (Postman/Swagger), participate in code reviews, and follow Git workflow practices including branching, committing, merging, and handling conflicts. Deployment experience with cPanel, VPS, or cloud servers is preferred, along with a solid understanding of SSL, DNS, environment variables, and production configuration.
Familiarity with frameworks such as Laravel or CodeIgniter is a strong advantage, including experience with artisan commands, migrations, queues, middleware, service containers, events, listeners, and blade templating. However, strong core PHP developers who write clean architecture are equally welcome.
The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of delivering stable backend modules with complete testing, documentation, and long-term scalability. You should be proactive in identifying logical improvements, suggesting enhancements, and ensuring that every feature meets professional quality standards. Candidates must provide previous project links, code samples, or GitHub repositories to demonstrate their backend expertise before selection.
