About the role

BlueSky Ventures is launching a security hardening initiative for its suite of cloud‑hosted applications. As a Cybersecurity Engineer you will lead the effort to fortify the new "Nimbus Shield" module, ensuring compliance and resilience across AWS environments. This short‑term project focuses on proactive threat mitigation and continuous monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement AWS Security Hub and GuardDuty rules tailored to the Nimbus Shield architecture.
• Conduct automated vulnerability scans with Nessus and integrate findings into a CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins.
• Develop Python scripts to enforce IAM least‑privilege policies and rotate secrets via AWS Secrets Manager.
• Configure and fine‑tune SIEM alerts in Splunk for real‑time detection of anomalous activity.
• Lead a tabletop incident response exercise and document remediation playbooks.
• Provide a final hardening report with risk scores and remediation timelines.

Must-have skills

• Deep experience with AWS security services (IAM, KMS, GuardDuty).
• Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting.
• Strong knowledge of Linux hardening and network security controls.
• Hands‑on experience with SIEM tools, preferably Splunk.
• Track record of conducting vulnerability assessments and threat modeling.

Nice to have

• Certifications such as CISSP or AWS Security Specialty.
• Familiarity with container security (Docker, Kubernetes).
