As we scale our product and expand into new markets, we're seeking a talented Senior UI/UX Designer to elevate our dashboard experience and drive product-led growth.
Position Overview
We're looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer with 5-7 years of expertise in designing complex SaaS dashboards and data visualization interfaces. This is a 6-8 month contract position (30-35 hours per week) with strong potential for conversion to full-time. You'll work directly with our Head of Product, engineering team, and customer success team to redesign our core dashboard, improve information architecture, and create intuitive user experiences that drive adoption and retention.
Key Responsibilities
UX Research & Strategy - 30%
• Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, and usability testing sessions
• Analyze user behavior data, heat maps, and analytics to identify pain points and opportunities
• Create user personas, journey maps, and empathy maps based on research insights
• Develop information architecture and user flows for complex dashboard features
• Define and validate design solutions through prototyping and A/B testing
• Collaborate with product team to align design strategy with business objectives
UI Design & Visual Design - 35%
• Design high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes using Figma
• Create and maintain a comprehensive design system with reusable components
• Design responsive dashboards that work seamlessly across desktop and tablet devices
• Develop data visualization charts, graphs, and tables that communicate insights effectively
• Ensure visual consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all touchpoints
• Design micro-interactions and animations that enhance user experience
• Create marketing assets and illustrations for product announcements
Prototyping & Testing - 20%
• Build interactive prototypes to validate design concepts and gather user feedback
• Conduct usability testing sessions with internal teams and external users
• Iterate on designs based on test results and stakeholder feedback
• Create clickable prototypes for developer handoff and stakeholder presentations
• Document design decisions and rationale for future reference
• Perform competitive analysis and benchmark against industry standards
Collaboration & Communication - 10%
• Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders and leadership team
• Work closely with frontend engineers to ensure accurate design implementation
• Participate in daily standups, design reviews, and sprint planning meetings
• Provide design feedback and mentorship to junior designers
• Create design specifications and documentation for development team
• Advocate for user-centered design principles across the organization
Design System Management - 5%
• Maintain and evolve the design system library in Figma
• Document design patterns, components, and usage guidelines
• Ensure design system components are accessible and meet WCAG 2.1 standards
• Collaborate with developers to sync design tokens and component libraries
• Create templates and resources to accelerate design workflow
Must-Have Requirements
• 5-7 years of professional UI/UX design experience, with focus on SaaS products
• Strong portfolio demonstrating complex dashboard design and data visualization work
• Expert proficiency in Figma (other tools like Sketch, Adobe XD are plus)
• Deep understanding of UX research methodologies and usability testing
• Experience designing and maintaining design systems at scale
• Solid grasp of information architecture and interaction design principles
• Knowledge of responsive design and mobile-first design approaches
• Understanding of frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript basics)
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and inclusive design
• Experience with prototyping tools (ProtoPie, Principle, or similar)
• Strong analytical skills and data-driven design approach
• Excellent visual design skills with keen attention to detail
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills
• Portfolio with case studies showing your design process and impact
• Ability to work independently in remote environment with US timezone overlap
Nice-to-Have Skills
• Experience with B2B SaaS products or enterprise software
• Background in designing analytics dashboards or BI tools
• Knowledge of design thinking workshops and facilitation
• Familiarity with SQL for querying user data and analytics
• Experience with motion design and animation tools (After Effects, Lottie)
• Understanding of product-led growth (PLG) principles
• Illustration skills for creating custom graphics and icons
• Experience with design QA and design implementation reviews
• Knowledge of user onboarding flows and activation strategies
• Familiarity with Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar analytics platforms

Project Details
This is a fully remote contract position requiring 30-35 hours per week for 6-8 months with possibility of extension or conversion to full-time. You'll report directly to our Head of Product and work with a product team of 10 people including 1 product manager, 5 engineers, 1 data analyst, 2 customer success specialists, and 1 marketing designer. We operate primarily in PST timezone with core hours from 10 AM to 2 PM PST for team collaboration. You'll have access to premium design tools, user research platforms, and professional development resources.
