We're seeking a seasoned Legal Consultant specializing in corporate compliance to help us navigate evolving regulatory landscapes and strengthen our compliance framework.


Position Overview:

We're looking for a Senior Legal Consultant with deep expertise in corporate compliance for a long-term engagement (12+ months). You'll serve as a strategic advisor to our executive team and compliance department, ensuring our business operations align with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. This is a critical role that requires someone who can provide practical legal solutions while balancing business objectives with regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

• Compliance Program Management (35%): Review, assess, and enhance our global compliance program across multiple jurisdictions; develop policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements while supporting business operations

• Regulatory Advisory (25%): Provide expert guidance on corporate governance, securities regulations, anti-corruption laws (FCPA, UK Bribery Act), data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA), and industry-specific compliance requirements

• Risk Assessment & Auditing (20%): Conduct compliance risk assessments, internal audits, and due diligence reviews; identify gaps and recommend remediation strategies

• Training & Education (10%): Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees, management, and board members on relevant legal and regulatory topics

• Regulatory Liaison (10%): Serve as primary contact with regulatory agencies; manage regulatory inquiries, examinations, and reporting obligations


Must-Have Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution

• Active bar admission in relevant jurisdiction (US, UK, EU, or other major jurisdiction)

• 7-10+ years of experience in corporate law with focus on compliance, regulatory, or corporate governance matters

• Proven track record working with multinational corporations or major law firms

• Deep knowledge of corporate compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements

• Experience with anti-corruption laws, securities regulations, and data privacy laws

• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex regulations and provide practical advice

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience conducting compliance audits and risk assessments

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities


Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or similar certification

• Experience in technology, financial services, or manufacturing industries

• International law experience across multiple jurisdictions

• M&A due diligence and integration experience

• Experience with compliance management systems and legal tech tools

• Background in government relations or regulatory affairs

• Multilingual capabilities (especially Spanish, Mandarin, or German)

• Published articles or thought leadership in compliance field


Project Details:

• Contract Duration: 12+ months with strong possibility of extension

• Initial Focus Areas: Global anti-corruption compliance review, GDPR compliance assessment for EU operations, development of third-party due diligence framework

• Workload: 30-35 hours per week with flexibility for urgent matters

• Collaboration: Direct reporting to Chief Legal Officer; regular interaction with C-suite executives, business unit leaders, and compliance team

• Tools: Access to legal research databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis), compliance management platform, secure document management system

• Meeting Requirements: Bi-weekly strategy sessions with CLO, monthly presentations to audit committee
